Not sure whether to keep going? You can talk it through.

Stepping away and pushing on
are both real calls.

You don't have to settle this on your own. If you are stuck, or a little scared, and you would rather think it out with a real person before you decide, that is a normal thing to want. Wanting to talk it through is not the same as being in trouble. It is just deciding, out loud, with someone instead of alone.

There is no script you owe anyone and no answer we are steering you toward. Turning back is a real, honest choice. So is carrying on. The point of the conversation is to help you hear your own read more clearly, not to talk you into either one.

Who you would actually be talking to

Right now that person is the founder -- a real human, not a bot and not a hotline -- and the way to reach him today is by email. He reads it himself. There is no call centre behind this, no counsellor on staff, and no 24/7 desk; we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is one person, by email, and that is the honest shape of it for now.

The email opens already framed as a deciding conversation, so you don't have to find the words to start. Say as much or as little as you want. A reply may take a day or two -- it is a person, not an auto-responder.

If you need support right now

What we do here is help you decide. We are not a counselling service and we are not trained for that. But if today is heavy and you want to talk to someone who is, here are real, free people who can help. You do not owe anyone an explanation to call them.

  • KIRAN (national mental health helpline)

Government of India toll-free helpline for anyone in distress -- free, runs 24/7, support in many Indian languages.

  • Tele-MANAS (national tele-mental-health)

These are independent services, run by other people -- not us. We are pointing you to them, not standing behind them, and we cannot promise any of them will be reachable at a given moment. Use the one that fits.

This is the calm, deciding kind of conversation. If you are not safe right now, that is different and it is more urgent. Crisis support is a tap away below -- choose "I am not safe right now" and it will show you people who can help any time.
